Beau Cleland (University of Calgary) will deliver a lecture based on his book, Between King Cotton and Queen Victoria: How Pirates, Smugglers, and Scoundrels Almost Saved the Confederacy, which was the recipient of the 2026 Wiley-Silver Prize for Best First Book in Civil War History from the University of Mississippi Center for Civil War Research.
