Join the Center for Community Engagement for a special day at Bland Delta Farm celebrating National Rice Month and exploring the connections between agriculture, food, culture, land, and community. Participants will tour the farm with Christi Bland, one of the few women rice farmers in the country, and learn about rice production, the agricultural landscape of the Mississippi Delta, and the people and communities connected to the land. Following the tour, participants will enjoy a Southern brunch featuring delicious food and live blues music, creating an opportunity to gather, share a meal, listen to music, and connect with others. This experience is offered in conjunction with SOIL, an exhibition honoring the resilience, strength, and enduring legacy of Black farmers in the Mississippi Delta. The event is free and open to students, faculty, staff, and community members and is made possible through funding from the Student Activity Fee. Registration is required.
