Biosafety and Biosecurity Month Challenge 2026

Hosted by the University of Mississippi’s Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) October is Biosafety and Biosecurity Month! This is the American Biological Safety Association’s (ABSA) 13th year to celebrate Biosafety and Biosecurity Month. However, this is the University of Mississippi’s second year to celebrate with a contest. Our goal is to promote awareness and shine a spotlight on training ideas, stewardship, engagement, and foster positive relationships within the research community, while supporting responsible and ethical research through our profession. This year, the IBC is hosting a contest that encourages labs or individuals to design and submit an original* entry promoting safe lab practices, raising awareness, or sharing important biosafety messages. The submission deadline is Thursday, October 22, 2026! *Original entries are strongly encouraged. Participants must provide full disclosure of AI’s involvement in their entry.
